In brief
Quizhat uses only technical cookies and storage, needed to make the site work or to remember the choices you make: no profiling cookies, no advertising, no third-party statistics tools. Visit statistics are collected by a tool installed on our own servers that does not use cookies and does not identify visitors.
The law does not require consent for these tools (art. 122 of the Italian Privacy Code, Legislative Decree 196/2003, and the Guidelines of the Garante (Italian Data Protection Authority) on cookies and other tracking tools of 10 June 2021): that is why the site does not show a banner. This page tells you what we store and why.

Technical cookies
These are first-party cookies, set by quizhat.app.

Those who take part in a quiz without an account receive no cookies from Quizhat.
Browser local storage
Some preferences are saved in the browser's local storage (localStorage or sessionStorage). They remain on your device, are not sent automatically to our servers and are not used to track you on other sites.

Statistics without cookies
To understand which pages are useful we use GoatCounter, open source statistics software that we run ourselves, on our server in Italy (stats.quizhat.app): no data goes to third parties.
- No cookies and no local storage: nothing is saved on your device.
- It counts visits to public pages (page, referring site, browser and operating system type, screen size, country) and some anonymous events (for example “quiz completed”), without names, emails or answers. Pages in the reserved area and game pages are not counted.
- The IP address is not stored: it is used only, for a few hours and in a non-reversible form, to avoid counting the same visit twice.
- The result is aggregated numbers, which do not allow individual visitors to be recognised.
- How to opt out: enable “Do Not Track” in your browser, or open the browser console on this site and type
localStorage.skipgc = 't'. In both cases the tool is not loaded.
YouTube videos in quizzes
Some quizzes contain a video: the questions appear while the video plays. Only in these quizzes, on the host's screen and on the participants' phones, the page loads the YouTube player (Google Ireland Limited) in privacy-enhanced mode, from the youtube-nocookie.com domain; to control it the browser also downloads the player script from youtube.com. In the editor, the video preview is loaded from i.ytimg.com.
- Loading happens because the author of the quiz chose to insert the video, and only when that quiz is opened. In quizzes without videos no YouTube content is loaded.
- In any case Google receives the device's IP address. In privacy-enhanced mode, according to Google, YouTube does not use views to personalise browsing on YouTube or advertising; when the video is played, YouTube may store information on the device (cookies or local storage) for its own purposes, for which Google is an independent controller, as described in Google's privacy policy.
- The session organiser can avoid YouTube being loaded by using quizzes without videos.
Third-party sites
- Payments: they take place on Stripe's pages (checkout and subscription portal), outside quizhat.app. The cookies set there are managed by Stripe, for example for security and fraud prevention, according to Stripe's cookie policy.
- Sign-in with Google or Microsoft: it takes place on these providers' pages, with their cookies and their privacy policies.
- Fonts are hosted by us: no requests to Google Fonts. We do not use Google Analytics, social network pixels or advertising networks.
How to delete them
You can delete cookies and local storage at any time from your browser settings, including just for quizhat.app. The site keeps working, but you will need to sign in again and your preferences return to the defaults. For questions write to festalaurea.info@gmail.com.
